These pieces best represent the current direction of my work.

A note on how these were made:

I create each of these works on a single sheet of paper and with no digitally printed elements. I hand-paint figures and animals using walnut ink, and hand-draw the pattern on the dresses and circular rugs with water-based color inks using a pen and nib. Background colors are hand-painted with a combination of water-based colored inks and gouache. The only non-painted elements are the rigid repeating background patterns on the floors and walls. To create those, I first select a pattern from one of a variety historic, and contemporary sources. I then use Adobe Photoshop to edit the pattern, separate it into stencils (one for each color I plan) and compose and put each stencil into perspective. From there I expose the stencils onto silkscreens, hand-mix the colors, and then hand-print the patterns on top of the painting.**
